That future seems closer now, but know this. When the arctic ice melts the earth becomes much warmer. What we see now is only the beginning of hot house earth caused by greenhouse gases.
Because of high CO2 levels there is no snow on the slopes. It is sad, but why did this have to happen?
As the price of oil increases many will switch to electricity. The US has a 500 year supply of coal. When you burn coal to create electricity the levels of CO2 will rise drastically. It will cause global warming on a massive scale. The solution is to create future electricity using fusion. Sadly, it takes many years to get fusion going.
However, the future can be changed we can speed us the research on fusion, otherwise we will soon see the polar icecaps melt. Our cool planet catch a fever.

Gone are the giant glaciers and snow cap mountains. In fact, many young people laugh at the very concept of snow, a white fluffy stuff that once covered the ground. They think that the older folks are a bit dotty. |

People in the future do not ski because the very concept of competitive sports is alien to people of the future. Their goal is to live in harmony, not to win at sports.
